Elders of the people
Seniores populi consilium fecerunt,
The elders of the people took counsel,
Ut Jesum dolo tenerent, et occiderent:
That they might seize Jesus by deceit, and kill him:
Cum gladiis et fustibus exierunt tamquam ad latronem.
And they went out with swords and staves as against a thief.
Collegerunt pontifices et pharisaei concilium.
