Встречаю я Сережку Фомина -
А он Герой Советского Союза...

About Seryozhka Fomin

I grew up like every other street urchin -
We drank vodka, sang songs at night,
And we didn't like Seryozhka Fomin
Because he was always focused.
Sitting at Seryozhka Fomin's place one day -
We were holding one of our meetings there,
And then Molotov said that the war had started
In his famous speech.
At the military registration and enlistment office, they told me: "My friend,
Your factory, "Compressor," is giving you a deferment!"

Was saved from the army by his father, a professor.

And yet my heart rebels:

And he sits there and doesn't bat an eye!
Now he's probably going to the movies -
There's a newsreel about us before the show,
I wish Seryozhka Fomin were here -
So he could spend some time on the German front!
...But finally the war ended -
We threw off the weight of tons of troubles,
I meet Seryozhka Fomin -
And he's a Hero of the Soviet Union...
