Ох, где был я вчера — не найду, хоть убей!
Только помню, что стены с обоями
Помню, Клавка была, и подруга при ей
Целовался на кухне с обоими

А наутро я встал, мне давай сообщать
Что хозяйку ругал, всех хотел застращать
Что я голым скакал, что я песни орал
А отец, говорил, у меня — генерал!

А потом рвал рубаху и бил себя в грудь
Говорил, будто все меня продали
И гостям, говорят, не давал продыхнуть
Донимал их блатными аккордами

А потом кончил пить, потому что устал
Начал об пол крушить благородный хрусталь
Лил на стены вино, а кофейный сервиз
Растворивши окно, просто выбросил вниз

И мене не могли даже слова сказать
Но потом потихоньку оправились
Навалились гурьбой, стали руки вязать
А потом уже все позабавились

Кто плевал мне в лицо, а кто водку лил в рот
А какой-то танцор бил ногами в живот
А молодая вдова, верность мужу храня
Ведь живём однова, пожалела меня

И бледнел я на кухне разбитым лицом
Делал вид, что пошёл на попятную
"Развяжите, — кричал, — да и дело с концом!"
Развязали, но вилки попрятали

Тут вообще началось, не опишешь в словах!
И откуда взялось столько силы в руках?
Я как раненый зверь напоследок чудил
Выбил окна и дверь, и балкон уронил

Ох, где был я вчера — не найду днём с огнём!
Только помню, что стены с обоями
И осталось лицо, и побои на нём
И куда теперь выйти с побоями!

Если правда оно, ну хотя бы на треть
Остаётся одно — только лечь помереть!
Хорошо, что вдова всё смогла пережить
Пожалела меня, и взяла к себе жить

Journey to the Past

Oh, where was I yesterday — I can't find it, even if you kill me!
I only remember that the walls had wallpaper
I remember that Klavka was there, and her friend too
I was kissing both of them in the kitchen

And in the morning I woke up, and they told me
That I had scolded the hostess, threatened everyone
That I had jumped around naked, that I had yelled songs
And my father, they said, was a general!

And then I tore my shirt and beat myself in the chest
I said that everyone had sold me out
And to the guests, they said, I didn't give them a break
I pestered them with my criminal chords

And then I stopped drinking, because I was tired
I started smashing the fine crystal against the floor
I poured wine on the walls, and the coffee set
I opened the window and threw it down

And they couldn't even say a word to me
But then they slowly recovered
They attacked me in a crowd, started tying my hands
And then everyone had fun

Someone spat in my face, someone poured vodka into my mouth
And some dancer kicked me in the stomach
And a young widow, being faithful to her husband
After all, we only live once, took pity on me

And I grew pale in the kitchen with my face broken
I pretended that I was backing down
"Untie me, — I shouted, — and be done with it!"
They untied me, but hid the forks

Then it really started, you can't describe it in words!
And where did I get so much strength in my hands?
I acted like a wounded animal, going wild for the last time
I knocked out the windows and the door, and dropped the balcony

Oh, where was I yesterday — I can't find it with fire in the daytime!
I only remember that the walls had wallpaper
And my face is left, and the beatings on it
And where can I go now with beatings!

If it's true, even by a third
There's only one thing left — to lie down and die!
It's good that the widow was able to get through it all
She took pity on me, and took me to live with her
