اليوم عهدكم فأين الموعد هيهات ليس ليوم عهدكم غد
إن التي سفكت دمي بجفونها لم تدري أن دمي الذي تتقلـــدُ
قالت وقد رأت إصفراري من به وتنهـــدت فأجبتها المتنهـــدُ
فمضت وقد صبغ الحياء بياضها
لونـي كما صبــغ اللجين العسجــدُ
فرأيت قرن الشمس في قمر الدجا متوأبا غصنُ به يتئــــؤدُ
عدويه بدويه من دونها سلب النفوس ونار الحرب توقــدُ
ابلت مودتها الليالي بعدنا ومشى عليها الدهر وهو مقيــدُ

Al Yaoum Ahdokoum

Today is your promise, so where is the rendezvous? Alas, there is no tomorrow for your promise.
She who shed my blood with her eyelids did not know that my blood she is celebrating as a trophy.
She said, seeing my paleness, who had caused it? And she sighed, so I answered her, sighing.
So she left, and modesty had dyed her white
My color as the lute had dyed the ebony.
And I saw the horn of the sun in the moon of the night, competing, a branch swaying gently.
A nomad, a Bedouin, without her, she takes our lives, and the fire of war burns.
Nights have worn out our love after us, and time has marched on it, bound in chains.
