Wie die Zeit vergeht

Der Wecker schellt um sieben, und ich hab Kaffee gemacht,
Kaum hab ich ihn getrunken, ist es viertel vor acht.
Ich haste schnell zur Uni - kann man so was verstehn?
Die Uhr behauptet "Elf" - gerade war′s doch noch zehn!
Dieweil ich fleißig vor mich hinstudier',
Rennt der Zeiger weiter, ich merk′s erst um vier.
Der Rest des Tages läuft dann circa dreimal so schnell:
Ich komme aus der Kneipe, und es wird schon hell!
Und ich dreh mich einmal um, schon ist der ganze Tag rum.
Weil kein Mensch so schnell versteht, wie die Zeit vergeht.
Die Weihnachtsgans liegt noch halbverdaut im Magen,
Schon geht es heiter weiter mit den Karnevalstagen.
"Dschingderassabumm" und ne rote Pappnase,
Es klingelt an der Tür, das ist der Osterhase.
Eiermalen, Eiersuchen, Eierlikör,
Vor dem ersten Mai noch schnell zum Frisör!
Pfingsten gibt's bei Tante Marlies Kaffee und Kuchen
- Verdammt, ich muß ja noch meinen Urlaub buchen!
Und ich dreh mich einmal um, schon ist das halbe Jahr rum.
Weil kein Mensch so schnell versteht, wie die Zeit vergeht.
Der Urlaub ist vorbei - Sonne, Strand und geiles Wetter.
Kaum zuhause, fall'n natürlich prompt die ersten Blätter!
Wieder keine Zeit für erforderliche Taten,
Denn es ist soweit: Ich muß die Weihnachtsgans braten...
Im Augenblick bin ich noch nicht mal Ende zwanzig,
Doch in ein paar Sekunden wird die gute Butter ranzig.
(Pause) dann hab ich meine siebzig Jahre abgerissen,
Und kurz darauf wird in das grüne Gras gebissen.
Vielleicht wird′s dann ja noch was Himmlisches geben,
So mancher nennt den Zustand Ewiges Leben.
Läßt Petrus mich hinein, gibt es keinen Grund zu trauern:
Das Ganze dürfte dann ja wohl was länger dauern!
Ich sag im Himmel kurz und knapp alle Termine ab.
Dann hab ich endlich für mich Zeit, und zwar ne Ewigkeit.

How Time Flies

The alarm clock rings at seven, and I've made coffee,
I've barely had a sip when it's a quarter to eight.
I rush to uni - can you believe it?
The clock says "eleven" - it was just ten a minute ago!
While I'm diligently studying away,
The clock keeps ticking away, I don't notice until four.
The rest of the day goes by about three times as fast:
I leave the pub, and it's already light!
And I turn around once, and the whole day is done.
Because no one realizes how quickly time flies.
The Christmas goose is still half-digested in my stomach,
And already the carnival season is in full swing.
"Jingle bells" and a red clown nose,
The doorbell rings, it's the Easter bunny.
Egg painting, egg hunting, eggnog,
Quick - to the hairdresser before May Day!
On Pentecost, there's coffee and cake at Aunt Marlies'
- Damn, I still have to book my vacation!
And I turn around once, and half the year is gone.
Because no one realizes how quickly time flies.
The vacation is over - sun, beach, and great weather.
As soon as I get home, the first leaves start to fall!
No time again for the things I need to do,
Because it's that time again: I have to roast the Christmas goose...
Right now I'm not even thirty yet,
But in a few seconds the good butter will go rancid.
(Pause) then I'll have ticked off my seventy years,
And shortly after that, I'll be six feet under.
Maybe there will be something heavenly then,
Some call that state eternal life.
If Peter lets me in, there's no reason to mourn:
The whole thing should probably take a bit longer then!
In heaven, I'll cancel all my appointments in a nutshell.
Then I'll finally have time for myself, and for an eternity.
