Schleichen si die Zweifel ein

A Brief Resume

I start to feel the cold, creeping in.
When the rain falls outside
And the air smells of snow,
My thoughts fly far
And endlessly forth,
They meet at a secret place
For a little resume.
And I become proud because I've made something
Of my life,
Perhaps accomplished a great work,
And everything is so wonderful.
Then I reflect,
And quite silently and secretly
Doubts creep in
Into my little resume.
Did I do what I wanted to do,
Should I have done everything differently?
Was that the truth,
That I told, or not?
Have my dreams come true?
Have I lost sight of my goal?
But for a new start,
It is never too late.
There are moments,
When I could scream,
Because just one human being,
That I want to stay-
I go into the forest,
There I become reverent and quiet.
Have I always given my best?
Am I defined for my life?
Who can claim that he does,
What he really wants to do?
Yesterday I still thought:
What is already tomorrow,
Why should I worry today?
It is not yet time to go!
I dream a dream,
Then I wake up and today is already here.
And it's time again
For a little resume.
