Cik koši svētku egle laistās,
Kā mirdz tā sveču spožumā!
Nu svētku jūtas sirdī mostas,
Un klusi pieaug cerība.

Lūk, bērnu pulciņš stāv un gaida,
Tiem prieka daudz un līksmības;
Un tēvi, mātes klusām raida
Uz augšu savas lūgšanas.

Tad ienāk pāris eņģelīšu
Un svētku eglei tuvojas;
Mums nemanāmi tie pielūdz Dievu,
Un ātri atkal aizsteidzas.

How brightly the Christmas tree shines,
How it glitters in the candlelight!
Now the Christmas spirit awakens in the heart,
And hope quietly grows.

Here, a group of children stand and wait,
They have much joy and merriment;
And fathers, mothers send quietly
Their prayers upwards.

Then a pair of angels come in
And approach the Christmas tree;
Unnoticed by us, they worship God,
And quickly rush away again.

Where good, honest people live,
