Μαραμένα μες στο βάζο τα λουλούδια
λυπημένα σ′ ένα κάδρο αγγελούδια.
Δίπλα η βρύση με ρυθμό στάζει φριχτό
τρίζει η πόρτα κι είν' το σπίτι ανοιχτό.

Μια γυναίκα φεύγει, μια σωστή κυρία
τα βήματά της σβήνουν μια θλιβερή ιστορία.
Κάνει κρύο κι η βροχή πάγωσε στη στέγη
μια γυναίκα φεύγει, μια γυναίκα φεύγει.

Στο τραπέζι ένα γράμμα πεταμένο
το ρολόι στις οχτώ σταματημένο.
Φεύγει ο χρόνος και το χτες είναι νεκρό
κλείνει η μοίρα το ρομάντζο το πικρό.

A Woman Departs

The flowers in the vase are wilted
Woeful angels decorate a frame.
The faucet nearby drips horrifically
The door creaks as the house lies open.

A woman departs, a lady proper
Her steps fade away, a tale of sadness.
The cold grasps me as the rain freezes on the roof
A woman departs, a woman departs.

On the table, a letter lies abandoned
The clock, stuck at eight, has been commanded.
Time moves on as yesterday is left behind
Fate concludes the tale, its bitterness we find.
