When will the bright moon appear? I raise my wine cup and ask the vast blue sky.
I wonder what year it is in the palace in the heavens tonight.
I'd like to ride the wind and return home, but I'm afraid the jade mansions and crystal palaces
are too high and cold. I dance with my pale shadow.
How can it compare to being down here?

The crimson pavilion turns, the silk curtains are low, shining on my sleepless eyes.
I shouldn't bear resentment, but why is the moon always full when we're apart?

People experience joy and sorrow, parting and reunion, just like the moon has its darkness and brightness, waxing and waning.
This has been difficult to complete since ancient times. I only wish that people could last forever,
a thousand miles apart, sharing the beauty of this moon together.
