Thì hãi hùng hoàng hôn chợt tới

Đang đam mê cho đời nở hoa
Chợt bàng hoàng đến kỳ trăn trối
Đang nâng niu cuộc tình lộng lẫy
Bỗng ngỡ ngàng vụt mất trên tay

Ta khổ đau một đời để chết trong tình cờ
Ta tìm nhau một thời để mất nhau vài giờ
Bàn tay làm sao giữ một đời vừa đi qua
Bàn tay làm sao giữ một thời yêu thiết tha

Mang ơn em trao tình một lần
Là kỷ niệm dù không đầm ấm
Mang ơn em đau khổ thật đầy
Là nắng vàng dù nhốt trong mây

Mang ơn trên cho cuộc đời ta
Vài vạn ngày gió cuồng mưa lũ
Trong cơn đau một vùng hương khói

I bow my head and reflect upon my life
And am seized by dread as dusk suddenly descends
I listen intently and reflect upon human nature
As the shadows of evening settle upon my shoulders

In the midst of my passion for making life bloom
I am suddenly shocked by the realization that my end is near
In the midst of cherishing my magnificent love
I am suddenly astonished to find it slipping away from me

I have suffered all my life, only to die by chance
I have searched for you for a lifetime, only to lose you in a few hours
How can my hand hold onto a life that has just passed?
How can my hand hold onto a love that was so dear?

I am grateful for the love you gave me, for that one time
It is a memory, even if it was not filled with warmth
I am grateful for the suffering you brought me, so full of pain
It is sunshine, even if it is trapped within the clouds

I am grateful to the heavens for my life
For the tens of thousands of days of raging wind and torrential rain
In the midst of my pain, a cloud of incense smoke
Pulls me back, back to the realm of nothingness
