Дело было как-то ночью, за околицей села,
Вышла из дому Настасья в чем ее мама родила,
Налетели ветры злые, в небесах открылась дверь,
И на трех орлах спустился незнакомый кавалер.
Он весь блещет, как Жар-Птица, из ноздрей клубится пар,
То ли Атман, то ли Брахман, то ли полный аватар
Он сказал - "У нас в нирване все чутки к твоей судьбе,
Чтоб ты больше не страдала, я женюся на тебе."
Содрогнулась вся природа, звезды градом сыплют вниз,
Расступились в море воды, в небе радуги зажглись.
Восемь рук ее обьяли, третий глаз сверкал огнем,
Лишь успела крикнуть "мама", а уж в рай взята живьем.
С той поры прошло три года, стал святым колхозный пруд,
К нему ходят пилигримы, а в нем лотосы цветут.
В поле ходят Вишна с Кришной, климат мягок, воздух чист,
И с тех пор у нас в деревне каждый третий - индуист.

Incident in Nastasino

It happened one night, beyond the village bounds,
Nastasya left her home, as naked as the day she was born,
Evil winds swirled around, a door opened in the skies,
And on three eagles descended a strange gentleman, right before our eyes.
He shone bright like a Firebird, steam billowing from his nose,
Perhaps an Atman, perhaps a Brahman, or maybe a full avatar, who knows?
He declared, "In our nirvana, everyone is sensitive to your fate,
So you'll suffer no more, I shall take you as my mate."
All of nature shuddered, stars fell like rain from above,
The sea waters parted, and rainbows ignited in the sky with love.
Eight arms embraced her, his third eye blazed with fire's might,
She only managed to cry "Mama," and was taken to heaven, alive that night.
Three years have passed since then, the village pond turned holy and grand,
Pilgrims flock to its banks, where lotuses bloom across the land.
Vishnu and Krishna walk the fields, the climate is mild, the air is pure,
And ever since that day, every third person in our village is a Hindu, for sure.
