Ой ты, фикус мой, фикус; фикус религиозный!
Что стоишь одиноко возле края земли?
Иноверцы-злодеи тебя шашкой рубили,
Затупили все шашки и домой побрели.
Ясно солнце с луною над тобой не заходят,
Вкруг корней твоих реки золотые текут;
А на веточке верхней две волшебные птицы,
Не смыкая очей, все тебя стерегут.
Одну звать Евдундоксия, а другую - Снандулия;
У них перья днем - жемчуг, а в ночи - бирюза;
У них сердце - как камень, а слеза - как железо,
И, любимые мною, с переливом глаза.
Я читал в одной книге, что, когда станет плохо,
И над миром взойдут ледоруб да пила -
Они снимутся с ветки, они взовьются в небо
И возьмут нас с тобою под тугие крыла.

Religious Ficus

Oh, my ficus, my ficus; religious ficus!
Why do you stand alone at the edge of the earth?
Infidel villains hacked at you with a saber,
They blunted all their sabers and wandered home.
The clear sun and moon never set above you,
Golden rivers flow around your roots;
And on the topmost branch, two magical birds,
Never closing their eyes, watch over you.
One is called Evdoxia, the other - Snanulia;
Their feathers by day are pearls, and by night - turquoise;
Their hearts are like stone, and their tears like iron,
And, my beloved, their eyes shimmer with iridescence.
I read in a book that when things get bad,
And the ice axe and saw rise above the world -
They will take off from the branch, they will soar into the sky
And take you and me under their strong wings.
