По четвергам старик приходит, учтивый, от часовщика,
И в доме все часы заводит неторопливая рука.
Он на свои украдкой взглянет и переставит у стенных,
На стуле стоя, ждать он станет, чтоб вышел полностью из них
Весь полдень. Весь полдень.
И благополучно окончив свой приятный труд,
На место ставит стул беззвучно. И чуть ворча, часы идут.

On Thursdays the old man comes...

On Thursdays, the old man comes, reserved, from the watchmaker,
And in the house all the clocks are set by an unhurried hand.
He glances at his own surreptitiously and adjusts it by the wall,
Standing on a chair, he waits for noon to come out of them completely,
All afternoon. All afternoon.
And having successfully completed his pleasant work,
He puts the chair back in its place without a sound. And the clocks go on, murmuring slightly.
