Отпускаю ветер под честное слово,
Отвести беду стороной.
Облететь дождем, не разрушив основы,
Опоясать радугой зной.
Выпустить в зарю созвездий блики,
Перепутать времени ход.
Отогреть дыханьем лесной земляники
В зиму занесенный народ.

Грозен, да светел,
Шорохи лови,
Преврати в гул.
Волница-ветер
Солнце в осень уводи,
Брось весною в разгул!

По дороге выплеснуть в снег разливы лета,
Птицами февраль оживить.
Поделиться с ночью пригоршнями света,
Не порвав движения нить.
Улыбнуться так, как могут дети,
Тем, кому привычен оскал.
Так я отпускал на ристалище ветер,
А ветер свое слово держал.

Wind

I release the wind upon a promise,
To take misfortune away.
To fly around with rain, not destroying the foundation,
To encircle the heat with a rainbow's sway.
To release the glimmers of constellations into the dawn,
To tangle the course of time's flow.
To warm with breath the wild strawberries of the forest,
The people brought in by winter's snow.

Fearsome, yet bright,
Catch the rustling sounds,
Turn them into a roar.
Free spirit-wind,
Lead the sun into autumn's core,
Throw it into spring's playful uproar!

Along the road, to spill summer floods into the snow,
To enliven February with birds in flight.
To share with the night handfuls of light's glow,
Without breaking the thread of motion's might.
To smile like only children know,
To those accustomed to a grimace's sight.
This is how I released the wind into the tournament's fray,
And the wind kept its word, come what may.
