Соловки

От суеты два шага до тоски
И, видит Бог, я выдержать не смог
И сам себя сослал на Соловки
На небольшой, но ощутимый срок
Вдаль уплывал Архангельский причал
И ночь была, как белый день, бела
А я скиты себе воображал
И даже слышал их колокола
Но утро было выше всяких грез
И весь корабль смотрел, открывши рты
Как монастырь неумолимо рос
Как город-Китеж, прямо из воды
И в этот самый миг я понял вдруг
Что можно брать любые рубежи
Но вечным остается дело рук
Лишь только если верой одержим
Пять дней средь елей, камня и воды
Ничем не скован, не обременен
Ходил, и всюду находил следы
Двух ипостасей века, двух времен
Вкруг башен пролегал глубокий ров
Но ров — уже не ров, а так, овраг
И спорит сообразность куполов
С несообразным здесь "шестой барак"
А в тысяча тридцать сумрачном году
Попав в сии священные места
Како-то зек соорудил звезду
На месте православного креста
Как он забрался — знает только Бог
Погнал ли страх, не подвела ль рука
Но он залез — ему скостили срок
А нам осталась память на века
Да будет так — пусть Соловки хранят
Студеный ветер тех недавних лет
И в божьем храме против царских врат
Пусть проступает надпись "Лазарет"
Я слышал, реставраторы грозят
Весь этот остров превратить в музей

From vanity to melancholy is half a step

And I sent myself to Solovki
For a short but noticeable moment

But the morning was beyond all dreams

As the monastery grew relentlessly

And at that very moment, I suddenly realized
That one can seize any limits
But only works of human hand are eternal
If fairh is what drives them
Five days among the spruces, stone, and water
Unchained, unburdened
I walked and found traces everywhere
Of the two faces of the century, of two eras
A deep moat lay around the towers
But the moat is no longer a moat, but rather a ravine
And the harmony of the domes is challenged
By the discordant "sixth barrack"
And in the bleak year of 1030
Having found himself in these sacred sites
A prisoner of some kind built a star
In the place of the Orthodox cross
How he got up there - only God knows
Whether fear chased him or his hand didn't fail him
But he climbed up - they reduced his sentence
And we were left with memories for centuries
Let it be so - let Solovki keep
The cold wind of those recent years
And in God's church, opposite the royal gates
Let the inscription "Lazaret" appear
