Моя страна - страна возможностей
И есть возможность добиться должности,
И неизбежно будут сложности,
И если в тебе нет осторожности,
Но если ты избежал оплошности
И задом, к примеру, не сел на ножницы,
То у тебя будут возможности
Вскорости должность другому давать.
И есть еще другие методы -
Родиться в семье, где все уже сделано.
Мамы, папы, бабки с дедами
Дорогу мостили своими победами.
И даже если в башке с винегретом ты,
Утыкан пирсингом, обвешан дредами,
Вооруженный кредиток котлетою,
Будешь все двери ногой открывать.
И в этой странной стране,
Всё чаще кажется мне,
Как в фантастическом сне, -
Всё можно.
Пусть мы не в ногу идём
Своим особым путём,
Но всё же верим и ждём,
Хоть это сложно
И ещё есть возможность бухать по-чёрному,
Колоться - и то и другое не здорово.
Но по мнению распространённому
Только лишь это снимает тоску.
Молода страна бескрайняя,
Зимы холодные, этапы дальние,
И наша действительность очень печальная
Сама пистолеты подносит к виску.
Только я думаю - это неправильно,
С пустой головой тяжело и в Австралии.
Вспомни себя, когда ты был маленьким -
Тебе просто нравилось жить.
И ни при чём тут деньги и должности,
И не страна даёт нам возможности.
Мы сами себе придумали сложности,
Когда разучились любить...
И в этой странной стране,
Всё чаще кажется мне,
Как в фантастическом сне, -
Всё можно.
Пусть мы не в ногу идём
Своим особым путём,
Но всё же верим и ждём,
Хоть это сложно

Country of Opportunities

My country, a land of opportunity,
Where you can climb the ladder, that's the reality,
Challenges will arise, inevitably,
And without caution, you'll fall, believe me,
But if you've dodged mistakes so craftily,
And haven't, for instance, sat on scissors clumsily,
Then opportunities will come to you, eventually,
To hand out positions to others, readily.
There are other methods, it's true,
To be born in a family where it's all done for you,
Moms, dads, grandmas, and grandpas too,
Paving the way with their victories, through and through.
Even if your head's a jumbled mess,
Covered in piercings, dreadlocks, I confess,
Armed with a stack of credit cards, no less,
You'll kick down any door, I guess.
And in this strange land we roam,
More often it feels like a fantastical home,
Like a dream where anything can be known,
Everything is possible, it's shown.
Though our steps may not align,
On this unique path that's mine,
We still believe and wait for a sign,
Even when it's hard to define.
There's also the option to drink yourself blind,
Or shoot up, neither option is kind,
But according to popular opinion you'll find,
Only this can truly ease the mind.
This young country, vast and wide,
With winters cold, and journeys far and wide,
Our reality is a sorrowful tide,
Holding a gun to its own head, it can't hide.
But I think that's the wrong way to be,
An empty head is heavy, even in Australia, you see,
Remember yourself as a child, wild and free,
You simply enjoyed life, naturally.
Money and positions, they don't define,
It's not the country that gives us a sign,
We create our own challenges, it's our design,
When we forget how to love and combine.
And in this strange land we roam,
More often it feels like a fantastical home,
Like a dream where anything can be known,
Everything is possible, it's shown.
Though our steps may not align,
On this unique path that's mine,
We still believe and wait for a sign,
Even when it's hard to define.
