Сердце девичье верило - сбудется
В жизни счастья настанет пора
Но не думала Роза, что влюбится
По уши в молодого вора!

И не долго то счастье покоило
Бархат, золото, шелк и рубли
Только сердце недоброе чуяло
На седьмицу за ним и пришли

И казалась разлука ей вечностью
Ненавидела Роза ментов
Разлучили, - кричала сердечная
Посадили на восемь годков

И писала она письма длинные
Колыма, Магадан, дальний край
Время часики мерят старинные
А кукушка кукует: встречай

Сердце ёкнуло: ой, что-то сбудется
Как-то парень в окно постучал
Пригласила домой гостя с улицы
Милый весточку с другом прислал

Передал ей привет от любимого
Два годочка осталось скучать
Роза стул сразу гостю подвинула
Есть он, Бог, по всему и видать.

Да, Вы садитесь за стол, не побрезгуйте
Отобедайте в доме моём
Кабы Розочка знала про беды те
Что пришли к ней под вечер с парнём

Он поел, а потом и попарился
Стала кровь в его жилах играть
И на кореша бабу позарился
Про него стал фуфло ей толкать

Мол, кентуха откинулся осенью
Был досрочно он освобождён
И добавилось Розочке проседи
Как поверить, что это не сон

Ну а тот всё толкал, как кормили вшей
И какой он ему первый друг
И ещё будто с лярвою тамошней
По амнистии двинул на юг

Как же жить ей, скажи, после этого
Шесть годков, как один, день за днём
Всё ложилась в кровать не согретую
И все сны её были о нём

А гостёк к её сердцу разбитому
Словом ласковым ключик нашёл
И поднёс Розе стопку налитую
Стал с ней жить да глумиться - козёл

И она к этой суке доверчиво
Прижималась в постели бочком
Но к другой он ушёл как-то вечером
А ей оставил долги с трипаком

Сколько слёз было, сколько страдания
Как она проклинала пору
Когда первый раз шла на свидание
Вечерком к молодому вору

Восемь лет пролетело и вспомнила
Милый был бы как-раз в этот день
Только рюмочку горькой наполнила
За окном вдруг увидела тень

Он вбежал к ней как сойка влюблённая
Наконец-то мы, Роза, с тобой!
А она ему финкой калёною
В грудь ударила за упокой

Он смотрел ей в глаза опечаленно
И без гнева с улыбкой сказал
"Поцелуй же меня на прощание"
И со вздохом последним упал

Перед ней он как перед иконою
В чём сумел заработать за срок
Фофан, кемель, да ксива казённая
Да для неё оренбургский платок

The maiden's heart believed - it will come true,
A time of happiness will come in life.
But Rose never thought she would fall in love
Head over heels for a young thief!

And that happiness didn't last long,
Velvet, gold, silk and rubles.
Only her heart sensed something unkind,
