Странник ли я опытный в житие?
Полны ли сады мои вишнями?

Коих в моих сказочках множество

Буду ли в деревьях под грозами

Встану ли подснежником розовым
Из-под всех снегов, чтоб весну начать?

Вечное моё, в вечном хочется
Плыть в любой из туч, растворяться в днях
Из сухих стволов гроб мой точится
Плачет под рубанком, он зовёт меня

Wanderer

Am I a seasoned wanderer in this life, my love?
Are my gardens full of cherries, sweet and ripe?
For there are chores — to live, to eat, you see,
Without the pious, the superfluous glee.

Have I contemplated enough, my dear, and pondered well,
My bear-like steps through cities, can you tell?
Or is it all just ropes and pedestals, my sweet,
Of which my tales have a plentiful fleet?

Will I, beneath the trees in stormy weather's sway,
Silently listen to the wind's eternal notes at play?
Will I rise a pink snowdrop, fair and bright,
From beneath the snows, to usher in the spring's first light?

My eternal being, in the eternal I long to reside,
To drift in any cloud, in the days to confide.
From dry trunks my coffin is being carved with care,
It weeps beneath the plane, it calls for me, my fair.
