С тех пор по ночам к деве стал приходить богомол
Безмолвный как тень
Он тихо входил и молча стоял

Убийца и дева друг друга нашли
У судьбоносной реки
Убийца сидел на пустом берегу
И считал на воде круги

Он зарядил пистолет и сказал
Хорошо, когда цель далека

Praying Mantis

Once from the harbor of Motril's port,
A snow-white frigate set sail for home,
Carrying on board a sorrowful maiden,
Dressed in mourning and bathed in tears.

Towards them, a gloomy ship held its course,
In whose hold was confined
A dangerous criminal—a lord, a murderer, and a thief.

The murderer and the maiden, for a mere moment,
Crossed their doomed gazes,
And their fates seemed forever parted
In the watery expanse of the ocean.

From then on, at night, a praying mantis came to the maiden,
Silent as a shadow.
He would quietly enter and stand in silence,
Searching for simple words.

The murderer and the maiden found each other
By a fateful river.
The murderer sat on the empty bank
And counted the circles on the water.

He loaded his pistol and said,
"It's good when the target is far away,
So far that you feel the tip of the barrel
A thousand miles from yourself."

And the maiden replied, "Yes, it's good
That the sun is high above us,"
And she cast the stone from her soul
At the feet of the villainous enemy.

On the maiden's dress, a praying mantis sat,
Motionless as an emerald.
He was never able to find the right words
And couldn't say a thing.
