את משל האופניים
לא תמצא בכל התורה כולה
את משל האופניים
לא תמצא גם בגמרא
לא ב"ראשונים", ולא ב"אחרונים", וגם לא ברמב"ם
זה-המשל - החיים כנמשל -
מי הגיד?
לרב דונין החסיד מחיפה.
אץ חסיד על אופניים
ועושה לו את חשבון-חייו
ורואה באופניו את הקשר עם חייו.

אם הוא מזיע - קשה לו להגיע - יידע
שהוא בעליה
אך אם הגלגל מתגלגל מאליו וזה קל -
הוא נמצא בירידה, וחבל.
ואם הוא עוצר - על מקומו הוא עומד ולא זז, אז -
הוא.בטוח שיפול,
זה הכול.

זה משל האופניים
מספרים אותו בכל מצב
מה חושב חסיד בינתיים, כשהוא אץ על אופניו...?

This parable - life is the metaphor -
