אז בבית הספר
על הקיר תמונה
והאיכר חורש בה
את האדמה
וברקע, הברושים
שמי שרב חיוורים
האיכר יצמיח לנו לחם
שנהיה גדולים.

והמורה אומרת:
"עוד מעט כבר סתיו".
בשיעור מולדת
היא מראה חצב.
היורה יבוא עכשיו
שפע טיפותיו
כוילון שקוף על פני העמק
הפורש שדותיו.

כך זה היה, פשטות רכה
זה הצטייר בילדותנו
שהיתה יפה.

וכך בדמיוננו התרבו פלאות
הפטישים ניגנו
מחרשות רנות
יש יוגבים ויש כורמים
ארץ של רועים -

Lesson: Homeland

So in school
On the wall a picture
And a farmer plows in it
The earth
And in the background, cypresses
Parched desert skies
The farmer will sprout us bread
When we are big.

And the teacher says:
"Autumn will be soon."
In homeland class
She shows us a daffodil.
The rain will now come
Abundance of its drops
As a transparent veil on the valley
Unfolding its fields.

So it was, soft simplicity
This was pictured in our childhood
Which was beautiful.

And thus in our imagination wonders multiplied
The hammers played
Merry plows
There are diggers and there are vinters
A land of shepherds -
