וְלֹא הָיָה לִי זְמַן.
כָּעֵת בָּרוּר
שֶׁלֹּא הָיָה לִי זְמַן.

מֻתָּר כָּעֵת
לְהַחֲרִישׁ.
צִלִּי הוֹלֵךְ וּמִתְאָרֵךְ
עִם פֶּסַע הַחַמָּה.

וְלֹא הָיָה לִי זְמַן
לִצְמֹחַ לְאִטִּי אִילָן

זוֹכֶה בִּיְרֻשָּׁה.
בֵּינִי וּבֵין אָבִי – הַיָּם.

וְהַמִּפְקָד הָיָה מָלֵא.
אֲנָשִׁים דִּבְּרוּ בְּגוּף-רִאשׁוֹן-רַבִּים.
יְמֵי יַחְדָּו,
בְּתֹם הַמַּסָּעוֹת.

יָרֵחַ מְאֻבָּן עַל הַשָּׂדֶה.
שָׁכֵן פּוֹנֶה וּמַעֲבִיר, שָׁחֹר,

And I didn’t have time.
It’s clear now
that I didn’t have time.

Half my life.

It’s allowed now
to be silent.
My shadow grows longer
with the passing of the sun.

I am the man
who didn’t have time.

And I didn’t have time
to grow slowly like a tree
of thoughts, slowly.
It’s like something obvious
more,
less random and added
than cries,
than impromptu meals while standing.
My life passed between newspapers.
My breath was broken
running short distances –
For God’s sake!

And I didn’t have time
to cover myself in hyssop
or rust
and roll
birth-death-birth-
to belong to memories
or to yellow
pages-pages in the heavy book,
to be understood.
And I’m sure.
Lost.
Winning an inheritance.
Between me and my father – the sea.

And the meeting was full.
People spoke in the first person plural.
Days together,
at the end of the journeys.

A fossilized moon in the field.
