その日は随分と平凡で
当たり障り無い一日だった
暇つぶしに聞いてたラジオから
あの話が流れ出すまでは

「非常に残念なことですが、
本日地球は終わります」と
どこかの国の大統領が
泣きながら話をするまでは。

窓の外は大きな鳥たちが
空覆い尽くしてく渋滞中
三日月を飲み込んで
どこかへと向かってる

やりかけてたゲームはノーセーブ
机にほぼ手つかず参考書
震える身体をいなす様に
すぐにヘッドフォンをした

不明なアーティスト項目の
タイトル不明のナンバーが
途端に耳元流れ出した
「生き残りたいでしょう？」

蠢きだす世界会場を
波打つように揺れる摩天楼
紛れもないこの声はどう聞いても
聞き飽きた自分の声だ

「あの丘を越えたら20秒で
その意味を嫌でも知ることになるよ。
疑わないで、耳を澄ませたら20秒先へ」

交差点は当然大渋滞
もう老若男女は関係ない
怒号やら赤ん坊の泣き声で埋まっていく

暴れだす人 泣き出す少女
祈りだした神父を追い抜いて
ただ一人目指すのは逆方向
あの丘の向こうへと

ヘッドフォンから依然声がして
「あと12分だよ」と告げる
このまま全て消え去ってしまうなら
もう術は無いだろう

ざわめき出す悲鳴合唱を
涙目になってかすめる10秒
疑いたいけど誰がどうやっても
終わらない人類賛歌

「駆け抜けろ, もう残り１分だ。」
その言葉ももう聞こえない位に
ただ目指していた丘の向こうは
すぐ目の前に

息も絶え絶えたどり着いたんだ
空を映し出す壁の前に
その向こう白衣の科学者たちは
「素晴らしい」と手を打った

疑うよ。

そこから見る街の風景は
まるで実験施設の様でさ
「もう不必要だ。」
科学者は片手間に爆弾を投げた

箱の中の小さな世界で
今までずっと生きてきたんだなと

燃え尽きていく街だったモノを
ただ、呆然と見る耳元で
ヘッドフォンの向こうから
「ごめんね」と声がした

That day was quite unremarkable
An innocuous day
The radio I was listening to just to kill time,
Until that story started to unfold

“It is with great regret that I must inform you,
But the Earth is ending today,” the president of
some country spoke while crying
Until he finished his speech.

Outside the window, large birds
Filled the sky, creating an aerial traffic jam
Swallowing the crescent moon,
And heading somewhere

The game I started remains unsaved,
The study book on my desk is almost untouched,
I put on my headphones as if to reject my trembling body,
Immediately

From the unknown artist section,
A track with no title
Suddenly began to play in my ear,
“Do you want to survive?”

The world outside stirs,
Skyscrapers sway like waves
There is no mistaking this voice, no matter how I listen,
It is my own voice that I am tired of hearing

“If you go over that hill, in 20 seconds,
You will inevitably learn what that means.
Don't doubt it, listen carefully, and go 20 seconds into the future”

The intersection is, of course, gridlocked,
Age, gender, it doesn't matter anymore,
Filled with angry shouts and the cries of babies

People are rioting, girls are crying,
Overtaking the praying priest,
I alone head in the opposite direction,
Towards the other side of that hill

The voice from the headphones still speaks,

“Run, there is only 1 minute left.”
Those words are now too faint to hear,
The hill I was heading towards,
Is right before my eyes

I finally arrived, breathless,
In front of a wall that reflects the sky,
On the other side, scientists in white coats,
Applauded and said, “Wonderful.”

I have my doubts.

The cityscape I see from here
Looks like an experimental facility,
“It is no longer necessary.”
The scientist casually threw a bomb.

In this small world inside a box,
I had been living all this time, huh?

I watch in a daze from the ground,
As the town that once was burns,
From the headphones
I hear a voice say, “I'm sorry.”
