Shadows of Yesterday

I open up my ancient journal and begin rereading,
Forgotten emotions and memories of you, a nostalgic feeling.
I suddenly crave a drink, to numb my mind and ease the sting.
In the throes of love, my world was ethereal and enthralling.

Every emotion we shared held a profound truth,

I put down my journal, my mood a bittersweet blend of sorrow and contentment.

I recall my youthful aspirations, but the reasons behind them are lost.

Was it life's inevitable storms that have eroded my memory?

Or have I changed, molded by the passage of time?
