Stage

The map I sketched when I was a satchel-wearing elementary schooler,
I'd written quietly in hiragana,
"I want to sing a song."
A throng of people, cherishing a dream
I wanted to ascend to that radiant stage.

I'd weave together the words I'd scrambled,
And go to meet you, my smiling muse.

I'll whisper loudly,
So that in your heart, all by yourself, you'll
Accept these thoughts.

Whenever I chased after you with all my might and reached out a hand,
I lost sight of compassion and shed tears.
I'll turn even my wounded heart into words,
Because the person I wish to convey them to is right there.

Crammed with my favorite melodies,
I'll go to meet you right now.

I'll spread my arms wide and whisper,
In your heart, all by yourself, please embrace me.
As the clamorous voices sway and undulate,
Pushed onward by them, I'm bathed in this light.

I listen quietly by myself,
I can hear only your heartbeat.
