With it I toast to the Heavens.
Not knowing the celestial palaces,
What year is it tonight in Heaven?

I wish to ride upon the wind and return,
But I fear the precious halls and jade palaces,
That the high and cold are too much to bear.
I'd rather dance and play with my shadow,
Which is better than any mortal realms.

Turning vermilion gates, low silk-gauze windows, illuminating sleepless nights,
It should not arouse any sorrow, why does it often become round in times of parting?

People are bound to experience joy and sorrow, separation and reunion,
Just like the moon waxes and wanes.
It is difficult to have everything one's heart desires,
But I wish for us to live long,
And share the moonlight from afar.
