The Rose's Story

Rose was born into a poor family,
Her parents argued and her marriage was strained,
She dreamed of becoming a writer
To escape her poverty,
Rose met a man who swept her off her feet.
He showered her with flowers and planned their wedding day,
They picked out a church and a dress,
Her first love was about to marry,
Together they would create a beautiful fairy tale,

Rose saved her money and her lover did too,
Rose got married and celebrated with her friends.
She wanted to escape her parent's divorce,
Rose had a family and her children filled her home with joy,
Rose was content with her simple life,
She hid her tears and smiled at everyone.

Rose doted on her cat and tended to her flowers,
Forgetting her dream of becoming a writer,
Forgetting the pain of the past,
Her knowledge faded away.

But her marriage was not immune to the sands of time,
Her parents divorced, leaving her alone with her child,
Her wedding dress was stained,
Her wedding photos were burned,
Her fairy tale was shattered,

Rose separated from her lover and ended their relationship,
Rose held back her tears until she was alone,
True love had become stale,
Rose realized she could only rely on herself,
Rose rebuilt her life, brick by brick,
Her home was empty and cold.

After the storm, the flower was left alone,
She had to water herself,
Her lovers were just temporary,

Rose finally became a part-time writer,
