牡丹の様な お嬢さん
シッポ出すぜと 浜松屋
二の腕かけた 彫物の
桜にからむ 緋縮緬
しらざァいって 聞かせやしょう
オット俺らァ 弁天小僧菊之助

以前を言いゃ 江の島で
年期づとめの お稚児さん
くすねる銭も だんだんに
とうとう 島をおわれ鳥
噂に高い 白波の
オット俺らァ 五人男のきれはしさ

着なれた花の 振袖で
髪も島田に 由比ヶ浜
だまして取った 百両も
男とばれちゃ 仕方がねえ
つき出しなせえ どこへなと
オットどっこい サラシは一本切ってきた

素肌にもえる 長襦袢
縞の羽織も 南郷に
着せかけられて 帰りしな
にっこり被る 豆しぼり
鎌倉無宿 島育ち
オットどっこい 女にしたい菊之助

Benten Kozō

Like a peony, my lady fair,
At Hamamatsuya, I'll show my flair.
With tattoos wrapped around my arm so fine,
Crimson crepe entwined with cherry blossoms shine.
Listen close, and you shall hear,
I'm Benten Kozō Kikunosuke, my dear.

Once upon a time, at Enoshima's shrine,
I served as an acolyte, divine.
The money I pilfered, bit by bit it grew,
Until I fled the island, it's true.
The famed white waves, they know my name,
I'm one of the five, a dashing, handsome frame.

In my familiar flowered, flowing sleeve,
Hair styled Shimada, at Yuigahama's weave.
Though I tricked you out of a hundred ryo so grand,
My disguise revealed, a man I stand.
Take me wherever you desire,
I've already cut my single binding wire.

My under-kimono against bare skin does blaze,
My striped haori, a southern haze.
Dressed up so fine, as I take my leave,
A small, tied-dyed cloth, my head receives.
A vagabond of Kamakura, island-bred,
I wish you'd make me your woman instead.
