Barefoot on the Field Ridge

On the village path at dusk
Tiny bits of sunlight scattered about
Even the straw wears a soft golden silk shirt
Frogs croak from afar
Cicadas chirp on the branches
And smoke from cooking fires wafts on the evening breeze
Barefoot, I walk on the narrow field ridge
Listening to my footsteps, pattering away
Accompanied by familiar calls
Taking me back to my childhood days
My nose filled with the scent of wildflowers
Laughter ringing in my ears
Pat, pat, pat, my footsteps resounding across the far end of the ridge
