Returning Home

The sunset's last rays paint the sky above,
As a few white clouds drift along.
The evening breeze whispers through the falling night,
A solitary figure sails in a boat so light.
A misty haze conceals the mountains near,
As a shepherd's flute plays a tune so clear.

I lean upon my staff and watch the river's flow,
Can it carry my sorrows far away?
The temple bells ring out, a sound so low,
Does the Buddha know of my return today?
