You know just a few minutes ago we were talking about the fact that you like to put a good mix of the good, the bad and the ugly on your albums
I know that you included some songs that you had written much further in the past
And you kinda brought 'em forward for this album and
So I'm wondering you've had a lot of good going on your life lately but not a lot of bad or ugly
Yeah
Going on this album I mean so is that or maybe some of these past songs came in or were you able to somehow dig and find the bad and the ugly
'Cause your life seems to be going pretty fantastically well right now
You know there was a little bit of both
There were few songs like We're Gonna Ride Again as a song that I wrote a while but
And it fit more of not halfway to heaven the justice I am where I'm thinking but still it didn't feel right
It's about Phil and Carrie brought that ran in front of a house force but it's also a Bucker Brotherman
And didn't know at the beginning but he ended up no one from way back he knew like my Pop and he was family across the board, we lived together
You know he and I and Jess, our guitar player
My drummer, Ben and Steve we all lived together in this
We called it the compound
Yeah
So he was family and he was so proud of what we had when it was what it was you know what I mean and
I felt like this record, this chapter, we're at the point now and I feel like the guys in the band we're all turn over new leaves and we're all inspired
So I mean there's a different time and a different place for us
I feel like everybody's got both freedom on the ground and as an organization, I feel like right now this is a time where he's really looking down where I had built at
And that song's about me you know what I mean
That's awesome
And call that bad and ugly if you want but it's a song about somebody just passed away
Yeah
But to me, I know Carrie well up to now that he is up to heaven and he is probably gettin' in trouble, all the time
Well it says in his soul
Preparing them for your arrival

I mean 'cause this dude, there was a story back in the day that my Pop that told me
They left one time, they left to a clubhouse
It was probably 10 or 15 bikes and they got back to where they were going
Everybody was hanging out laughing and cotton up and all of a sudden somebody
Where's Carrie?
And looked up said "I couldn't find him"
And I called the clubhouse said just left
And they said, "We thought he left with y'all"
So everybody loads up and all of us back down on the road
And I got to a point on the road where they saw the last part somebody remembered him being beside 'em
And that's one thing he loved riding motorcycles but he was not very good at it
He just wouldn't pay attention and he had run off this hour something going off the road and a big cut two patch
And I said they all cut their motorcycles of the road and you could hear him laughing
I said he's all beat up and chewed the open road race up but I can hear his laugh right now like it was yesterday
He had the most obnoxious, funniest just hilarious laugh just him laughing alone was enough to crack everybody up around him
Yeah
And he was that guy
And he's the guy that everybody loves to be around and like I said he was proud of what we were when it was what it was
That's awesome
And singing what it is now
And it's a song I wrote with Mike Dekle, one of very very important person to me
One of my favourite people and also written with Jess, our late guitar player and Carrie actually had a heart attack and Jess and I were with him when he passed
Oh my gosh
Like that's how we lived together
Yeah
And we were living in Mike Dekle's house like it's old house he lived across that Lapaun famous
So it was like a family member passed on the way
You know what I mean that was a close it always has been a close knit, good to bad and ugly grew from me a lot of friction I mean there's to it act like we could sit here for days
Right
And I could tell you stories but we lost Carrie, we lost a family member
Yeah
Across the board so it's not so much the bad and ugly
It's not completely all feel good song because it does heart
Right
You know looking back no one I wish he was sitting in this room right now telling stories
Look him by and him not be in that chair you know what I mean
Yeah
Him not be in front of a house or playing shows
Yeah
That's not great but no one worries at no one will see him again makes that song that bad and ugly I think

On Roulera à Nouveau (Commentaire)

Tu sais, il y a quelques minutes, on parlait du fait que tu aimes bien mélanger le bon, la brute et le truand sur tes albums.
Je sais que tu as inclus des chansons que tu avais écrites il y a bien plus longtemps.
Et tu les as en quelque sorte ressorties pour cet album et
Donc je me demande, il t'est arrivé beaucoup de bonnes choses ces derniers temps, mais pas beaucoup de mauvaises ou de laides.
Ouais.
Pour cet album, je veux dire, est-ce que certaines de ces anciennes chansons sont revenues ou as-tu réussi à creuser et à trouver la brute et le truand ?
Parce que ta vie semble aller plutôt fantastiquement bien en ce moment.
Tu sais, il y a eu un peu des deux.
Il y a quelques chansons comme "On Roulera à Nouveau", une chanson que j'ai écrite il y a un moment, mais
Et ça correspondait plus à "À mi-chemin du paradis", la justice, je suis là où je pense être, mais ça ne semblait toujours pas correct.
C'est à propos de Phil et Carrie, Brought, qui a couru devant une maison de force, mais c'est aussi un Bucker Brotherman.
Et je ne le savais pas au début, mais il s'est avéré qu'il connaissait quelqu'un d'il y a longtemps, comme mon père, et c'était de la famille à tous les niveaux, on vivait ensemble.
Tu sais, lui et moi et Jess, notre guitariste,
Mon batteur, Ben et Steve, on vivait tous ensemble dans ce...
On appelait ça le complexe.
Ouais.
Donc, il faisait partie de la famille et il était si fier de ce que nous avions quand c'était ce que c'était, tu vois ce que je veux dire ?
J'ai l'impression qu'avec ce disque, ce chapitre, nous sommes arrivés à un point où, je pense, les gars du groupe, on tourne tous une nouvelle page et on est tous inspirés.
Donc, je veux dire, c'est une époque et un endroit différents pour nous.
J'ai l'impression que tout le monde a la liberté sur terre et en tant qu'organisation, j'ai l'impression qu'en ce moment, c'est un moment où il regarde vraiment de haut ce que j'ai construit.
Et cette chanson parle de moi, tu vois ce que je veux dire ?
C'est génial.
Et appelle ça la brute et le truand si tu veux, mais c'est une chanson sur quelqu'un qui vient de décéder.
Ouais.
Mais moi, je connais bien Carrie, maintenant qu'il est au paradis, il a probablement des ennuis tout le temps.
Eh bien, ça dit dans son âme
Les préparer à ton arrivée.
Ouais.
Je veux dire, parce que ce mec, il y a une histoire, à l'époque, que mon père m'a racontée.
Ils sont partis une fois, ils sont partis dans un club-house.
Il y avait probablement 10 ou 15 motos et ils sont retournés là où ils allaient.
Tout le monde traînait, riait, discutait, et tout d'un coup, quelqu'un a dit :
Où est Carrie ?
Et il a levé les yeux et a dit : « Je ne le trouve pas. »
Et j'ai appelé le club-house, ils ont dit qu'il venait de partir.
Et ils ont dit : « On pensait qu'il était parti avec vous. »
Alors tout le monde remonte sur ses motos et on retourne sur la route.
Et on est arrivé à un endroit sur la route où ils l'ont vu pour la dernière fois, quelqu'un se souvenait qu'il était à côté de lui.
Et c'est une chose qu'il adorait, faire de la moto, mais il n'était pas très doué.
Il ne faisait tout simplement pas attention et il avait dérapé, quelque chose comme ça, en sortant de la route dans un grand fossé.
Et j'ai dit qu'ils ont tous arrêté leurs motos sur le bord de la route et qu'on pouvait l'entendre rire.
J'ai dit qu'il était tout amoché et égratigné par la route, mais je peux entendre son rire maintenant comme si c'était hier.
Il avait le rire le plus odieux, le plus drôle, juste hilarant, rien que son rire suffisait à faire rire tout le monde autour de lui.
Ouais.
Et c'était ce genre de mec.
Et c'est le genre de mec avec qui tout le monde aime être, et comme je l'ai dit, il était fier de ce que nous étions quand c'était ce que c'était.
C'est génial.
Et fier de ce que c'est maintenant.
Et c'est une chanson que j'ai écrite avec Mike Dekle, une personne très, très importante pour moi.
L'une de mes personnes préférées, et aussi écrite avec Jess, notre regretté guitariste, et Carrie a en fait eu une crise cardiaque et Jess et moi étions avec lui quand il est décédé.
Oh mon Dieu !
C'est comme ça qu'on vivait ensemble.
Ouais.
Et on vivait dans la maison de Mike Dekle, comme son ancienne maison, il vivait en face de ce Lapaun célèbre.
Donc, c'était comme si un membre de la famille était décédé en chemin.
Tu vois ce que je veux dire ? C'était un groupe soudé, le bon, la brute et le truand ont beaucoup grandi en moi, beaucoup de friction, je veux dire, il y a tellement de choses à raconter, on pourrait rester assis ici pendant des jours.
C'est vrai.
Et je pourrais te raconter des histoires, mais on a perdu Carrie, on a perdu un membre de la famille.
Ouais.
À tous les niveaux, donc ce n'est pas tellement la brute et le truand.
Ce n'est pas complètement une chanson joyeuse parce que ça fait mal.
C'est vrai.
Tu sais, en regardant en arrière, j'aimerais qu'il soit assis dans cette pièce maintenant en train de raconter des histoires.
Le regarder et qu'il ne soit pas dans cette chaise, tu vois ce que je veux dire ?
Ouais.
Qu'il ne soit pas devant une maison ou en train de jouer des concerts.
Ouais.
Ce n'est pas génial, mais savoir qu'on le reverra un jour rend cette chanson moins brute et truand, je pense.
