Und wieder hat das alte Vorurteil sich als richtig entpuppt:

Bißchen Unterleibskomik, bißchen nackten Hintern Zeigen
Und keiner hört mehr auf die Mahner und die Lästermäuler schweigen
Gib ihnen hohle Plastik-Idole, die durch ihren Alltag geistern
Und bunte Werbung, um ihnen die Augen zu verkleistern
Gib ihnen ihre Seifenoper und du hast sie in der Hand
Heiterkeit und Lechz! und Freizeit, danach strebt das Vaterland!

You haven't quite arrived yet
You leaf through the mail, the radio host promises the kids
The biggest hits, like a mantra
And the coolest oldies from the last 200 years
And they serenade you with the same old tunes
From Helsinki down to Kampala
From left to right across the entire radio dial
And you only realize during the traffic report:
This is the land where they supposedly speak your language!

But you are homeless
Lied to
Cheated
Ripped off
Swallowed up like by a black hole
Homeless
Fleeced
Left high and dry
Severely shocked
Lured into a trap
And strung up like a sheep by its hind legs
A lousy feeling
You can't find asylum
You are naked and bare
Homeless

You start leafing through the pile of accumulated newspapers
And all the misery comes at you in big letters
And in the photos of the big shots and the desk perpetrators
Of the buddies, the parasites and the never-step-downers
You thought you had escaped the swamp for a short time
But with the first headline, they all pull you back in
The hypocrites, the turncoats, the sit-out-ers and the smirks
The dark account investors and the black money earners
Didn't they all swear loudly and clearly just recently before everyone's ears
To avert all harm from the people?
And once again the old prejudice has turned out to be true:
That's not a prejudice at all: Power really does corrupt them
You feel homeless

No outcry goes through the land, only silent ducking, no rebellion
Nobody takes to the streets anymore, just a tired shrug
About embezzlement, tax evasion, lies and scandals
A flabby fun society, without morals or ideals
Give them bread and games, that numbs the republic
A little Love Parade, dirty TV and folk music
A little below-the-belt comedy, a little showing of bare butts
And nobody listens to the admonishers anymore and the gossips are silent
Give them hollow plastic idols to ghost through their everyday lives
And colorful advertising to plaster over their eyes
Give them their soap operas and you have them in your hand
Cheerfulness and lust! and leisure, that's what the fatherland strives for!
