母は達者で おりますか

そこから見えるか ふるさとの家

今はなかなか 帰れない
見守っておくれよ お月さん
おふくろ一人で 暮らしてる家
やるだけやれよと 持たせてくれた
お守りに入ってた 畳んだお札

生まれ故郷の 恋しさを
分ってくれるか お月さん
浮かんで見えるよ おふくろの顔
迎えに行ける 日が来るまでは
淋しかろ辛かろが 待ってておくれ

Nostalgia Under the Moon

Is mother doing well, I wonder?
A full moon hangs high in the night sky.
Can you see our old home from up there?
On the morning I left, she celebrated
The red rice was so very delicious.

“Even though we’re apart, we see the same moon.
Ah, I wonder if Mom is looking at it tonight too.”

It's hard to go back home right now.
Please watch over her, oh moon.
She lives in that house all by herself.
“Do your best,” she told me, sending me off.
The folded bills inside my amulet.

For my birthplace, oh moon?
I can see Mother's face appearing before me.
Until the day I can go back to her,
