Tor

Ich weiß nichts mehr vom einst von mir durchquerten Land,
vom Sturz ins Meer noch davon, was darin geschah.
Ich weiß nichts von der Küste, die ich danach fand,
noch von der letzten Reise, nur: Bald bin ich da.

Der Körper ist nun taub,
Schmerz und Lust gleichsam beraubt.
Die Reserven sind verbraucht, doch geh ich weiter.
Rein mechanisch, ohne Kraft,
doch bald ist es wohl geschafft,
und mein Geist, mein müder Geist, ist beinah heiter.

Mindestens Gleichgültigkeit
scheint sich in mir auszubreiten.
Auch die Fast-Unendlichkeit
nach zehntausend Jahreszeiten,
die, gleich schnellem Fackeldrehn,
verschwimmen zu einem Feuerkreis,
bis ich von alldem, was geschehn,
nichts mehr fühle oder weiß.

Barfuß im Büßerhemd,
kaum noch lebendig.
Kalt!
Fremd, fremd, unendlich fremd
und unvollständig,
doch bald...

Und Schattenflammen umzüngeln die Steinwände,
Negativblitzen gleich.
Graue Rindenfetzen schälen sich ab
und hinterlassen spiegelglatte Mauern.
Die Netzhaut ist bald totgereizt
und tastend kriech ich weiter in dein Reich.
"Was war das Wandern wert, was ist der Lohn?",
frag ich mich ohne Hoffnung und Bedauern.

Der Turm dringt immer tiefer in des Himmels Grau,
und dabei gleicht er einem Dolch aus Obsidian.
So füllt er bald mein Sichtfeld aus, der schwarze Bau
aus Nachgeflecht und wohlgenährtem alten Wahn.

Und bald steh ich davor,
und ich seh nicht Tür noch Tor,
nur ein Loch aus tiefer Schwärze dort im Dunkel.
Und die Turmspitze ersticht
diesen Himmel ohne Licht,
bricht ihn auf, fast wie ein eitriges Furunkel.

Plötzlich wird mir nun bewusst,
ich kann dich niemals bezwingen.
Kaltes Eis strömt in die Brust,
und ich hör dein tiefes Singen
und ein Kind, das einsam weint,
irgendwo im tiefsten Kerker,
und es wartet dort, wie's scheint,
doch das Singen ist viel stärker.
Wie es lockt! Wie es befiehlt!
Ach Liebe, wie die Zeit verging.
Wie es mir meinen Willen stiehlt.

Oder ein tapfer weiterkrabbelndes Insekt

only a hole of deep blackness there in the darkness.
And the tower's peak stabs,
this sky without light,
breaks it open, almost like a festering boil.

Suddenly I realize, my sweet,

Cold ice flows into my chest,

and a child, weeping alone,
somewhere in the deepest dungeon,
and it waits there, it seems,
but the singing is much stronger.
