إذا شفت الزمن مقفي بعينه نية التجريح
رهنت النفس للعليا إلين تموت مرهونه
ترى خير الكلام الذكر وأشرف مفرده تسبيح
ودنيتنا قصيدة وأعتقد ما هي بموزونه
يطيح المزن لكن السحابة ثابتة ما تطيح
مثل مداتنا لامن عطينا جات مضمونه
و أنا ماني بطير صاده القناص بالتلويح
أنا طير على الغيمة يحوم و لونها لونه
من التلميح ما يكفي عن الشرح ومن التلميح
ما يجرح لي زوايا خافقي ويحطم ركونه
قصيدي كان ما بكى السحاب ولا استثار الشيح
يمين الله. لأطبع بنات الفكر من دونه
أعسف القاف للمعنى مثل عسفي ببنات الريح
وتجي قافي مثل شيخ بني عمه يحشمونه
أنا أعشق بكل إحساس لكن مستحيل آصيح
أنا لي هامة عيت تطيع الذل . مجنونه
أنا سدي حفظ سر الكلام ولا أحب أبيح
و عذالي تعرف قيمتي بروح مغبونه
عجزت أداوي آهات الشعوب وفكرة التسليح
وإذا جيت أشعل أهرام الظلام مات فرعونه
وإذا عيا على الظامي نهر دجلة وعين السيح
من يلوم الحزين ليا انتثر دمعه من عيونه
أبا اشبح دام ما يقبل ميول الفكرة التصحيح
وأبا أرقى للنجوم الي تبا موتي على هونه
ترى طعن الظهر غادر و لا يحتاج له تصريح
ولدغات الحنش تقتل وخص إن جات مدفونه
يقال إن الأساطير القديمة ما تبي تنقيح
وسنون سممت تقتل ولو ماهي بمسنونه
أنا ما خفت من برد الضلوع وقسوة التبريح
أنا ألفظ كل زفرات الغلا واللي تعرفونه
أنا أخاف أنثر بيوت القصايد في مهب

If you see time with evil intentions
You must surrender your soul to the highest until it dies
For the best speech is remembrance and its most honorable utterance is glorification
And our life is a poem, and I believe it is not balanced
The rain may fall, but the clouds remain firm and do not fall
Like our lives, when we give, its value comes
And I am not a bird that a hunter catches with a lure
I am a bird that hovers over the clouds, and its color is my color
Allusion is enough without explanation, and from allusion
That which pierces the corners of my heart and destroys its foundation
If my poem does not make the clouds weep nor stir the old man
By God, I will print the daughters of thought without it
I bend the rhyme for the meaning as I bend the daughters of the wind
And the rhyme comes like a respected elder
I love with all my senses, but it is impossible for me to cry out
I have a spirit that refuses to obey humiliation. It is insane
I am a dam that keeps the secret of speech and does not like to reveal it
And my critics know my worth with a cheated soul
I have failed to heal the sorrows of the people and the idea of arming them
And if I come to light the pyramids of darkness, Pharaoh will die
And if the Tigris River and the Ain al-Seh fail the thirsty man
Who can blame the sad man when his tears flow from his eyes?
O my specters, as long as the inclinations of the idea do not accept correction
And O my moon, I will ascend to the stars that want my death gently
For a stab in the back is treacherous and does not need permission
And the bites of the viper are deadly, especially if they are buried
It is said that the ancient myths do not need refinement
And a poisoned swallow kills even if it is not sharpened
I am not afraid of the cold of the ribs and the harshness of torment
I utter all the sighs of love that you know
I am afraid to scatter the verses of the qasida in the wind
