I yearn to be lost in worship
My gaze has become as a thousand stars, my love, and I am beside myself

I come to you Bulleh, my brothers and sisters

Neither in the highest heavens, nor
In the holy Kaaba nor
In any religious learning or any sacred niche, dwells our Lord
He is not to be found in Ganga’s sacred waters, or amid the countless pundits and priests that throng there
When the true guide is met, all our petty trials and tribulations cease

I come to you Bulleh, my brothers and sisters

Dear Bulleh, please accept my words and abandon your ways
Which prophet or saint, or even Ali, have you ever truly followed?

I come to you Bulleh, my brothers and sisters
I come to you Bulleh, my brothers and sisters

I am not a mendicant, a renunciate, or an ascetic
I do not beg for alms
I do not perform the Muslim prayers, nor do I use prayer beads
If I am heedless for a moment, I become a kafir (unbeliever), but then my guide reminds me
Listening to my guide, I am freed from all fear and anxiety

I come to you Bulleh, my brothers and sisters
I come to you Bulleh, my brothers and sisters

Those who call me a heretic will be consigned to hell
But those who call me a friend will surely attain paradise

I come to you Bulleh, my brothers and sisters
I come to you Bulleh, my brothers and sisters

I do not listen to or follow any religious book
My heart alone is my guide
All the dry teachings of the pundits
Have been swept away by the flood of God’s grace
Why wander from door to door, love?
Here is the shore, here is the refuge
We have crossed over safely and are at peace now
For we have found the true guide

Truly beautiful are those who reject them and seek only the Divine
