เพราะต้องใช้แรงงาน... ยิ่งกว่าใช้แรงวัว
คนทุกคน ต้องทํางานเหมือนควาย
แต่หนี้สินยังมากมาย... เกิดเป็นควายดีกว่าคน

Cautionary Tale of the Older Generation
There was an old man, an alcoholic
He would not work, only drink
Drinking from morning till night
Life changed, he had to beg
He wandered aimlessly in crowded places
His body thin, his skin dark
He shivered... from chronic alcoholism
When he was young, he was a rice farmer
He worked hard... growing rice to feed others
Debt piled up because he only farmed
He never learned any other trade... so he lost his farm
He became a laborer, carrying and lifting all day
He worked until he was almost dead and was paid very little
Because he was poor, he was always taken advantage of
He swallowed his heartache... or he would starve
When it was time to eat, he was never full
When it was time to sleep, he never slept soundly
Every time he closed his eyes, he had nightmares
It made him bitter... and his spirit weakened
When he got sick, his body shook
He was forced to work harder... than an ox
Everyone has to work like a buffalo
But there is still so much debt... it would be better to be a buffalo than a human
The country farmer was at his wit's end
He wandered into Bangkok to be a laborer
He was worthless because he was old and gray
His final solution... was alcohol
The more he drank, the worse it got
Any money he earned, he spent on alcohol
He drank because he was depressed, and the more he drank, the more depressed he became
His body ached, and he was plagued by illness
