Au bout d'une légende
Oui, je fus musicien
Lorsque tu m′emmenas
Au clair des grands orgues
Sur des ailes d'oiseau
Car tu étais musique
Et j′étais magicien
Lorsque sur chaque note
Éclosait un "je t'aime"
Je fus ton Arlequin
Lorsque ivre de ton rêve
Je vis danser mon âme
Sur un rayon de lune
Et je fus ton enfant
Lorsque tu me berças
Sur l′onde caressante
D'une source d'étoiles

Where you lived
In the heart of the night itself
And I became a sailor
When your silken eyelashes
Opened like seaweed
On an opal sea
And I was a great sorcerer
When with a word of love
I lit a sun
In the sky of tenderness
I was the troubadour
In love with the lyre
That a nymph lost
At the end of a legend
Yes, I was a musician
When you took me away
In the light of the great organs
On the wings of a bird
Because you were music
And I was a magician
When on each note
Blossomed an "I love you"
I was your Harlequin
When drunk with your dream
I saw my soul dance
On a moonbeam
