What life are you expecting to come
Where you'll do it?

The person who doesn't stand with the mob

The person who refuses to walk with the crowd
Will feel better

The person who doesn't stand with the mob

Because they will have self-respect

I'm comfortable
As comfortable as you can be in the end times
As everything's burning down
And there's plagues of Locusts coming our way
And I have the satisfaction
Of knowing that I'm not lying

The problem with going along
Is that it demoralizes you
It makes you a smaller person, inside
You will be demoralized
Because you'll know that you shouldn't have done that
And at some level, you will think badly of yourself for having done it
You'll feel regretful
You'll feel cowardly
And it will affect your life in other ways
And the opposite is also true

That's what totalitarian movements across history always knew

Cites the example of a greengrocer in Prague in the Communist era in Eastern Europe

Ich wünsche mir nur die Zustimmung einer relativ kleinen Anzahl von Leuten, die ich respektiere.

Aber wenn es Leute sind, die nicht wollen, dass es mir gut geht,

um herauszufinden, wer will, dass es uns gut geht, wer uns wohlgesonnen ist,

Natürlich wollen sie nicht, dass es dir gut geht.

Sie hassen dich, sie hassen alles an dir und was auch immer.
Aber ich habe nicht viel Mitgefühl mit Personen des öffentlichen Lebens,
die sagen: "Ich kann nicht sagen, was ich denke, ich kann nicht meine Meinung sagen und all so etwas."
Wenn du es jetzt nicht tust, wann dann?
Wenn du es in diesem Leben nicht tust,
welches Leben erwartest du dann,
in dem du es tun wirst?

die Person, die sich weigert, mit der Menge zu gehen,
wird sich besser fühlen.

wird mehr in ihrem Leben erreichen, was auch immer das sein mag,
weil sie Selbstachtung haben wird.

Ich fühle mich wohl,
so wohl, wie man sich in den Endzeiten fühlen kann,
während alles niederbrennt
und Heuschreckenplagen auf uns zukommen.
Und ich habe die Genugtuung,
zu wissen, dass ich nicht lüge.

Das Problem beim Mitlaufen
ist, dass es dich demoralisiert.

Du wirst es bereuen,
du wirst dich feige fühlen,
und es wird dein Leben auf andere Weise beeinflussen.
Und das Gegenteil ist auch wahr.

die Person, die sich weigert, mit der Menge zu gehen,
wird sich besser fühlen.

Das ist es, was totalitäre Bewegungen in der Geschichte immer wussten:
Man zermürbt die Leute und bringt sie dazu, den Lügen zuzustimmen,
weil man sie dann dazu bringen kann, alles zu tun.
Václav Havel, der große verstorbene tschechische Führer,
nennt das Beispiel eines Gemüsehändlers in Prag während der kommunistischen Ära in Osteuropa,
der, wie alle anderen,
den Aushang in sein Fenster hängen muss, auf dem steht:
Arbeiter der Welt, vereinigt euch!
