Shadows on the Sand Dunes

Underneath the moon's gentle glow,
Upon the dunes warm and bright,
Amidst the prickly pears and cactuses below,
A mockingbird sings its enchanting song.

From afar, through distant lands,
A symphony of kisses takes flight,
It is the ocean's waves with their tireless hands
That come to kiss the sandy shore.

Mesquite trees weep in sorrow deep,
For my weary soul longs to keep,
The touch of a love so far away,
A love that left me astray.
And as I wander through life's uncertain path,
On these desolate sands below,
My shadow stretches far, a mournful aftermath,
Upon the boundless dunes.
