Soñeeé un sueño muy extraño

Y no me contestó.
De pronto miles de hombres locos de furor
Cayeron sobre él,
Y como apareció
Se desvaneció
Por fin vi que el mundo entero
El mismo que le odió
Mirando arrepentido señaló.

Pilate's Dream

I dreamed a strange dream
That I still cannot understand
Of a man from the days of old
Before my time
Who was about to be killed.
I asked the reason for his crime,
How had the decision been made?
He simply looked at me with sweetness
And said nothing in response.
Suddenly, thousands of men, mad with rage
Fell upon him,
And as quickly as he had appeared
He disappeared.
Finally I saw that the whole world
That had hated him
Was looking with regret at the one who had pointed him out.
Pilate had killed him.
