Louis the Sixteenth was the King of France in 1789.
He was worse than Louis the Fifteenth.
He was worse than Louis the Fourteenth.
He was worse than Louis the Thirteenth.
He was the worst since Louis the First.
King Louis was living like a king, but the people were living rotten.
So the people, they started an uprising which they called the French Revolution, and of course you remember their battle cry, which will never be forgotten:

In your place at Versailles.

And now the country's gone kablooie.
So we are giving you the air.
That oughta teach you not to

But you were bad, you must admit.
We're gonna take you and the Queen
Down to the guillotine,
And shorten you a little bit.

To you King Louie we say fooey.
You disappointed all of France.

Louis XVI était le roi de France en 1789.
Il était pire que Louis XV.
Il était pire que Louis XIV.
Il était pire que Louis XIII.
Il était le pire depuis Louis Ier.
Le roi Louis vivait comme un roi, mais le peuple vivait dans la misère.
Alors le peuple a lancé une insurrection qu'ils ont appelée la Révolution française, et bien sûr tu te souviens de leur cri de guerre, qui ne sera jamais oublié :

Tu as pris le mauvais chemin, vieux roi Louis.
Tu as fait pleurer la population.
Parce que tout ce que tu faisais, c'était de t'asseoir et de caresser
Avec Marie-Antoinette
À ta place à Versailles.

Et maintenant, le pays est en miettes.
Alors on te donne l'air.
Ça devrait te montrer de ne pas
Passer tout ton temps à traîner
Aux Folies Bergère.

Si tu avais été un roi plus gentil,
On ne ferait rien,
Mais tu étais mauvais, il faut bien l'admettre.
On va t'emmener, toi et la reine,
Jusqu'à la guillotine,
Et te rapetisser un peu.
