Ik zag Rio op tv

Tante Sjaan had niets meer aan

Opa Jansen rende toen achter haar aan
Het plafond kwam naar benee
Maar daar zit ik nu niet mee
Want dit is Rio's Carnaval

Ik zag Bobo van twee hoog
Die speelde bongo met z′n oog
En de buurman speelt gitaar met z'n tenen
Japie van de overkant kreeg 'n paar klappen op z′n hoofd
Want hij zat per ongeluk aan Mien der benen
De Bastille het cafeetje op het plein deed met ons mee
Iedereen is hier welkom tegen niemand zeg ik nee
De politie kwam eraan.
Ja toen was het snel gedaan
Maar dit was Rio′s Carnaval

My dear, I saw Rio on the television
It gave me an idea
To have a party with the neighbors
I cut the legs off my pants
Sprinkled confetti in the corner
I put away the chairs
The party can begin
Aunt Joan had nothing left on
She had gone too far
Grandpa Jansen ran after her
The ceiling came down
But I don't mind
Because this is Rio's Carnival

I saw Bobo from the second floor
He played the bongo with his eye
And the neighbor plays the guitar with his toes
Japie from across the street got a few slaps on his head
