Bruised is a breakup song set to the backdrop of a vacation gone awry.
This, this couple has, has ended up going away
For, uh, for a weekend or so
In the middle of a time
Where they probably would be better served
Going away from each other for a while
And, uh, it sort of follows that experience of getting on an airplane
When you know you′re almost,
When you're coming home to really separate, in a sense.
And for me, lyrically,
It is one of the more heartbreaking songs I′ve written and it-it...
What I love, I think,
The most about this song is that it takes that heartbreak in there
But it sets into this, this really up-tempo sort of rhythm, um
That I think carries it through and almost anchors the song
And still makes it visceral and and
Balances out, I think, the heaviness of the lyric.

Blessé, c'est une chanson sur une rupture qui se déroule sur fond de vacances qui tournent mal.
Ce, ce couple a, a fini par s'enfuir
Pour, euh, pour un week-end ou deux
Au milieu d'une période
Où ils auraient probablement mieux fait
De s'éloigner l'un de l'autre pendant un moment
Et, euh, ça suit un peu cette expérience de monter dans un avion
Quand tu sais que tu es presque,
Quand tu rentres chez toi pour vraiment te séparer, en quelque sorte.
Et pour moi, lyriquement,
C'est l'une des chansons les plus déchirantes que j'aie écrites et elle-elle...
Ce que j'aime, je pense,
Le plus dans cette chanson, c'est qu'elle prend ce chagrin d'amour là-dedans
Mais elle l'installe dans ce, ce rythme vraiment énergique, euh
Que je pense qu'il la porte et presque l'ancre
Et la rend quand même viscérale et et
Équilibre, je pense, la lourdeur des paroles.
