Parliamo ancora di lui
Sottovoce quando viene sera,
Seduti vicini, con un po' di paura.
Di quando ci rincorreva

We still talk about him
In hushed tones when evening comes,
Sitting close together, a little afraid.
About when he would chase us
Laughing in that strange way
And then hiding
To spy on us from afar.
He lived up there on the hill.
He spent his days
Watching the sparrows fly,
He played with the mice, but he didn't talk to us.
We tormented him
Trying to make him cry
But he didn't pay any attention and walked away.
His father didn't love him,
He beat him every day:
He couldn't stand those strange eyes.
His mother comforted him,
He would go out in the rain
Barefoot, walking slowly.
Those things that happened back then
Are so far away.
But sometimes we still talk about him.
On summer evenings
When we get bored here,
Sitting close together letting time pass.
