L′eremita coglie spighe

La ragazza vola in cielo

The girl is very beautiful
And she walks with her eyes cast down,
The hermit sings the Gloria
For the stones and for the rocks.
The girl has a knife
And bathes it in tears,
The hermit talks to the wolves
Shut inside the mountain.
The girl has bare feet
And the nettle has cut them,
The hermit on the rosary
Counts the days found again.
The girl is on the shore
And she combs her hair,
The hermit drinks the water
Of grief in the streams.
The girl falls asleep
To dream of first love, ancient love,
The hermit takes a stone
And his heart beats hard, his heart echoes
But the sky remains silent.
The girl is all white
Under the sky that darkens,
The hermit on her body
Picks the flower of the moon.
The girl cries out a name
And suddenly wakes, looks at his face;
