Throw the window wide and open, keep this mark from me,
Just the letter T and its most dread companion B.

How in heaven? Hadn't it been conquered long ago?
How did it come back again? It's just a curio.

Juste une curiosité

Dans la lumière pâle et froide qui penchait, j'ai vu
Le givre reflété sur le verre et dans l'air dehors,
Des relations tendres prononçant des mots d'amour et de tragédie.
Bien qu'il fasse froid, de la vapeur s'élève d'un ruisseau qui coule.
Dans un lit étroit et peu profond de linge fin et amidonné,
Où ses longs cheveux se sont autrefois répandus sur sa gracieuse arche,
La dentelle pendait sur les comptoirs et les armoires en noyer,
Les dents claquaient comme des écolières frappant des castagnettes.

Il n'y aura pas de lumière pour te guider lorsque tu monteras les escaliers.
Il y aura peut-être une bougie lorsque tu te mettras à genoux et que tu diras tes prières.
Ouvre la fenêtre grande ouverte, garde cette marque loin de moi,
Juste la lettre T et son compagnon le plus redoutable B.

Comment au ciel ? Ne l'avait-on pas vaincu il y a longtemps ?
Comment est-ce qu'il est revenu ? C'est juste une curiosité.
