King Cobra

It's hidden in the jungle
Protected in the ruins of a temple

Of spectacled snakes
Only the jungle knows of its existence.

At nightfall, it comes out to dance
The cobra emerges from its hiding place
The moon glistens on the ruins
The cobra, the oldest and the wisest
Rises up, swaying

A silent dance begins
Of spectacled snakes

When the oldest cobra
Now white with age
