Κάτου στης ακροποταμιάς το μονοπάτι περπατάει
κρατώντας βέργα λυγαριάς και στη Σεβίλλια πάει.
Τα κατσαρά του γυαλιστά πέφτουν στα μάτια του μπροστά
στην όψη του είναι μελαμψός από του φεγγαριού το φως.

Αποβραδίς η ώρα οχτώ τον σέρνουν σε κελί μικρό
απέξω κάθονται φυλάνε πίνουν ρακί και βλαστημάνε.

Down by the riverside, he walks along the trail,
Holding a flexible rod, and he goes to Seville.
His curly, shiny hair falls in front of his eyes,
And his face is swarthy from the moonlight.
For a moment, he stops and picks round lemons,
He drops them in water to soften and to gild them.
There, along the riverside trail, they catch up with him,
