La muerte de mi caballo para mi fue un golpe extraño

when I gave you those saddles, you proved to be good.

That you were good for walking, for roping and
for herding, for a rodeo and for a flood,
in everything you did well when I was a cowboy on you,
I, a good lessor, and you, subject and light.

The plainsmen admired you, how you behaved,
and because of your serene pace, in you I found myself
safe, we never fell,
you ran with veteran cunning in the arena.

You didn't care about distance, nor did the
pace affect you, it was the same for you to do herding,
